  • 2017 Collaborative exhibit with the Dallas Jewish Historical Society

    • ​"Uptown's Pike Park: Little Jersusalem to Little Mexico, 100 Years of Settlement."

 

  • Bi-monthly New Member Orientations and “Connecting with the Past” historical presentations begin in February 2014

    • DMAHL introduces its first Membership Appreciation Awards – Outstanding DMAHL Member (Pauline Marceleño Laws); Outstanding Friend of DMAHL (Regional Hispanic Contractors Association); and Outstanding DMAHL Corporate Sponsor (Harwood International) at Annual Membership Appreciation program

    • Educational presentations on Dallas’s Mexican American history to DISD students, parents, and schools begin in March 2014

         

  • DMAHL celebrates its Fifth Anniversary at the Latino Cultural Center

    • Partnership with HOGAR and the Latino Cultural Center on 2nd Annual DMAHL (Distinguished Mexican American Historical Legend) Awards Tribute, posthumously awarded.  Recipient, Francisco (Pancho) Luna, co-founder of the Luna’s Tortilla Factory

    • DMAHL receives the Dallas Historical Society Community Award

    • Exhibit, “Honoring the Veterans and POW’s of Vietnam” at the Dallas Veterans Day Parade Program at Dallas City Hall in partnership with the American G.I. Forum

    • Partnership with the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Board and Department on the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the Pike Park Gazebo and Plaza Improvements

    • Exhibit, “Justicia – The Struggle for Mexican American Civil Rights in Dallas, Texas:  1920-2012” and Lecture Series in partnership with the Latino Cultural Center in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Santos Rodriguez murder and March for Justice in Dallas

    • DMAHL receives its 501(c)(3) designation as a tax-exempt organization from the IRS on June 30, 2013

    • Partnership with the Latino Cultural Center, the University of North Texas, and Bill Millet Productions for the Dallas premiere of the PBS documentary, “Texas Before the Alamo”

        

  • Exhibit at the Old Red Museum, “We Came, We Built, We Prospered:  100 Years of Mexican American History in Dallas;” Lecture Series; and Genealogical Journey Map of three Mexican American families from 1500s Spain to Mexico and present-day Dallas

    • Partnership with HOGAR and the Latino Cultural Center on the 1st Annual DMAHL (Distinguished Mexican American Historical Legend) Awards Tribute.  Recipient, Anita Nañez Martinez.  Guest speaker Bill Millet, director and producer of 2013 PBS documentary series, “Texas Before the Alamo”

    • 2012   DMAHL partners with the Hispanic Organization for Genealogy and Research and the Latino Cultural Center to hold an event paying tribute to an outstanding community member. DMAHL presents its first “Distinguished Mexican American Historical Legend” award to the Hon. Anita N. Martinez. Recipients in following years were Pedro Aguirre, Pancho Luna (posthumously), Trini Garza, Pancho Medrano (posthumously), and Trini Lopez.

    • Exhibit at the SMU Pollock Gallery, “Centers of Influence:  Dallas’s Mexican American Barrios and Their Leaders”

    • The Shirley Achor collection is the first DMAHL collection to be digitized, courtesy of SMU

    • DMAHL Speaker Series renamed the “Jesse Tafalla Speaker Series of DMAHL.”

    • Collaboration with HOGAR (Hispanic Organization for Genealogy and Research) to offer genealogy workshops at Dallas and Irving Public Libraries

    • The Regional Hispanic Contractors Association offers meeting and storage space to DMAHL

    • Signature event exhibit, “El Cemento” and Lecture Series in partnership with the West Dallas Chamber of Commerce Bridge-o-Rama celebration of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge opening

        

  • Exhibit at the National Association of Chicana/Chicano College Students Tejas Regional Conference at South Texas College, McAllen, Texas, “Las Primeras: Early Mexican American Women Leaders in Dallas, Texas, 1910s-1930s”

    • Collaboration begins with SMU (class presentations to Meadows Arts History Department; support of the SMU Latino Student Association Latino Alumni History Project; oral history interviews of Mexican American elders; student interns assigned to digitize the Shirley Achor collection of DMAHL; partnership on a Fall 2012 Exhibit at the SMU Pollock Gallery, etc.)

    • Perkins, Coie LLP begins providing pro-bono services to DMAHL

    • Collaborative efforts begins with the Old Oak Cliff Preservation League to preserve the Eagle Ford School

    • Presentation, “Perspectives:  The Life of a Migrant Farm Worker” at the Children of Migrant Farm Worker Summit of the Dallas Area Texas Health Steps Coalition

    • Publication of DMAHL member, Sol Villasana’s book, Little Mexico
